| The Task Group for the Extension of the Portuguese Continental Shelf was created by the Cabinet Resolution of the Council of Ministers nº 9/2005 and its mission is to: “pepare a proposal for the extension of the Portuguese Continental Shelf beyond 200 nautical miles,to be presented to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf,and Follow the process of consideration of the portuguese submission by this commission”.
In fulfillment of the mission, EMEPC drew the Portuguese proposal to submit to the Commission on the Limits for the Extension of Continental
Shelf (CLCS). The submission of Portugal was delivered on 11 May 2009, to Hariharan Pakshi Rajan, Secretary of the CLCS, representing the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Its scheduled for April 13, 2010 in New York, the first presentation of Portuguese CLPC submission.
